The Institute of Advanced Motorists of Ireland (IAMI) was conceived and formed by Tony Toner and Denis McBride on completion of their career service to Garda Siochana. With years of expertise gathered in the operational, high security and road educational sphere of the Garda, Police Constabulary Driving Schools in the UK and the Irish Motor Industry, it was felt they had too much to offer the pursuit of road safety in Ireland to "hang up their boots".
